They tell us St. Louis is home to the second-largest Mardi Gras celebration in the nation. Sounds like a bit of a stretch, considering the monster parties in New Orleans, Mobile, Galveston and a few other places, but we do throw a good-sized bash. You can head down to Soulard and see costumes, beads and floats that rival anything in the Crescent City. And while the organizers have steadfastly resisted including New Orleans-style music in recent years, choosing instead to bring in, um, well-traveled out-of-town bands like MiniKiss and this year’s entertainment, Everclear and Eve 6, it’s still possible to catch a little zydeco and brass band funk during our Carnival celebration.  We had a great time playing a matinee at the Sheldon Concert Hall, then storming the stage at the Old Rock House with our compatriots the Funky Butt Brass Band. And we did it again on Fat Tuesday, March 4 at the Broadway Oyster Bar. Thanks to everyone who made Mardi Gras 2014 such a blast!
