WE LOVE MAPLEWOOD!
It's a hip, happening St. Louis 'hood -- we hang out there, and it's where we chose to record our most recent CD. At the "Let Them Eat Art" festival, the mayor of Maplewood returned the love by giving us the key to the city. No fooling -- there it is, above. How cool is that?

FUNKY BUTT BRASS IN DA HOUSE!

Ron and Tim have a little side project called the Funky Butt Brass Band, coming soon to a club or street corner near you. Check out the FBBB's MySpace page -- lots more det
ails to come!

EAT TO THE BEAT!

Check out the West End Grill & Pub at 354 N. Boyle, just north of Lindell. One of the owners of this hot new eatery is our very own drummer, Benet Schaeffer!

STICK THIS IN YOUR iPOD!
Pick up our latest CD, entitled simply Gumbohead. It's a mix of funky originals plus some of our favorite Louisiana dance tunes. You can find it here in St. Louis at Vintage Vinyl, Webster Records or online at CDBaby.com!

CHECK OUT THE COVER BOYS!
We got the cover and a very nice write-up in the February issue of STLSound, a local music mag. Read the article here.

LIVE DOWNLOADS!

You can download some live shows at www.archive.org and their Live Music Archive. Just search for Gumbohead, and download or stream live performances from various shows like the Threadhead Patry in New Orleans or Harrah's Casino in St. Louis. It's not always pretty...but it's LIVE!

GUMBOHEAD is a collective of rhythmic rapscallions and tuneful tricknologists who find great joy playing music born in and influenced by New Orleans and southwest Louisiana.

To hear the band is to experience the full spectrum of Louisiana dance music, including zydeco, funk, blues, jazz, r&b, brass band and traditional “second line” tunes, featuring songs by such artists as Dr. John, Buckwheat Zydeco, the Meters, Chubby Carrier, Jon Cleary, the Neville Brothers, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Iguanas, Galactic, Clifton Chenier and the inimitable Professor Longhair - as well as a number of suitably spicy originals.

Gumbohead has opened for several of these legendary performers including the Nevilles, the Dirty Dozen, Terrance Simien, Chubby Carrier, Jon Cleary and Buckwheat Zydeco. In 2006 and 2007, the band played a private fundraiser in New Orleans with John Boutte and Paul Sanchez, Papa Grows Funk, Rebirth Brass Band, Kim Carson, Papa Mali, the Hot 8 Brass Band, Shamarr Allen and The Radiators that helped raise more than $24,000 for the NOMC.

In May 2008, Gumbohead entertained Grammy winners Vince Gill and Amy Grant (and 450 of their closest friends) at a charity event in Nashville for Vince's Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament, "The Vinny."

No matter where Gumbohead plays, every gig is a full-blown, bead-tossing Mardi Gras throwdown, guaranteed to make you shake everything you've got! To get on the band's e-mail list, please click on CONTACT in the header above and let us know you'd like to be added. We promise, no spam.
